The title of my book is Belle of the Brawl. The significance of the title is like a spin off of the belle of the ball. The belle of a ball is usually the person that the ball is for, maybe like birthdays or special occasions. And a ball is like a dance or party that some people still have today but not as common as dances. So, the belle of a brawl must be the winner of a brawl. A brawl is like a fight which in this book some fighting does happen but it’s not really physical. More like verbal and calling other girls bad names. Also, the girls in the book are against each other to be the last one left on the island so that could be the brawl that the title is talking about. I think that this title means more than one thing because it’s what it originally means is something nice and elegant but it’s being turned into something that sounds bad and violent. I understand the book better by the title because I know what it means. Also, I can connect it while I’m reading the book which in many occasions it comes up. The title of the book made me want to read it because its part of a series I like and it also sounded interesting to read.

The setting in the book Belle of the Brawl is very usual kind of like any city but yet it is very unfamiliar because it’s not like any place I have ever been to. Let me tell you what I’m talking about. The book takes place on an island called Alpha Island that is in the shape of and @ symbol. I think that’s very creative and I can picture it as a place I would like to visit or possibly even live at. The island is mainly a school for very talented girls. Talents like dancing, singing, acting, and education. I can picture myself being a student there. But, it’s not your ordinary school. The classrooms are very high-tech for what there teaching. This book could be explaining how schools will be in the future which I would really enjoy going to. I think that you would learn better at a school like that than at schools any other place.

Also, the island can do a lot of things that we can’t do in real life. Such as control the weather and the buildings there seem very interesting and different than real life buildings. The setting is very comfortable and I feel like I’m there when I’m reading the book. It would be the kind of place where you can really learn a lot without distractions. On Alpha Island it’s always nice out and the beach has pink sand! And it always seems comfortable and doesn’t have all the seasons unless the person in charge of the island changes it.  And it only changes when her mood changes.  The setting is very important to the plot because everything that happens in the book happens on that island. Alpha Island is explained really well and makes it seem like it’s a real place. I wish it was.

The main characters in the book Belle of the Brawl by Lisi Harrison are Sky Hamilton, Charlie Deery, and Allie Abbot. They all kind of act alike in one way but yet they each have their own personalities. Also, I think they handle problems like real people in the real world would. Those situations have happened to many people before and I think it’s something we all can relate to. It’s like a whole other world but yet it’s just like how anyone could live their everyday life. I think about what if I was in their place. I would probably do the same things they did to fix anything. Also, they have done things that other people in real life have done to make it more realistic.  Allie, Charlie, and Skye are all very consistent of their actions. Sometimes the same situations come back or happen again. Like with guys, mostly Sky likes a different guy when one guy likes her. That has also happened to Allie and they both do the same things to fix it. Such as making the other guy not like her so she can have the guy she likes with no problems. Or they all just try to get the guys attention by doing similar things to get noticed.  All three of the girls always seem to be motivated about something. They never seem to have dull moments. They are rarely ever sad or doing something wrong. The girls never get in trouble or at least caught for doing something bad. But, sometimes we all make bad decisions thinking that they are right. All that matters is that you learn from your mistakes.

For the beginning of the second quarter I am reading the book called Belle of the Brawl by Lisi Harrison. It is also an Alphas novel. And is the third book from the series. There is a character named Skye who is a lot like me because we have been in similar situations. Like, when we have boy problems, friend problems and we both figured out a way to get through them and in the end everything ends up being great in life. For the boy problems sometimes boys you don’t like end up liking you. Well that’s what happened with Skye and I’ve had that happen a couple times too. I guess you just make them not like you anymore. The friend problems are also similar too; we both have lost friends and gained new ones or just worked out issues. We both have learned that if you make bad decisions and live through it a lot of things will change for the better. We are also alike because Skye is a dancer and I used to be a dancer so I can really relate to her with what she does in dance classes. She may not be the best dancer at the academy but she gets a little help from the other girls on the island. She also becomes friends with a girl she never really liked and that makes her a better dancer in the end. In fact she becomes the best dancer in the class. Since I can relate to her I think it’s a lot easier to read a book with a character that you can relate to.
