    Friends.

    2010 – 10.27

Well I have a few friends that I think should read this book.  At times they seem fake and just mean to people and the main character Lauren has to deal with people being mean to her just because they think they’re funny and cool.  My friends behind the scenes can be very nice and true, but when they get around a lot of people/boys they change and become almost stuck up, Lauren experiences the same type of behavior with her friends.  In the end of the book she teaches them a lesson, and I think some of my friends can learn from it.  I think that the reason girls get mean is because of jealousy.  This also sometimes happens to me, people will say very mean things about me because of the insecurities in themselves and there is no need for negativity.  Someone says to Lauren, “Stop talking your just a dumb blonde.”  I think that the girl who says this is very insecure because earlier in the book she was complaining about her own hair color and how she wants to become blonde.  This goes to show that some people really need to watch what they say and things can really be hurtful, negativity shows weakness and when girls are jealous they can be mean. I really think that if my friends read this book they would change for the better and maybe think more about what they say to other people.  They would probably really like this book because they could really relate to it.

    Small town girl.

    2010 - 10.12

The book Bloom is based in a small town.  There aren’t that many stores or things to do for fun in the town.  I can really relate to this because I live in a very small town and we have basically nothing to do here, and we always have to go out of town to do something fun.  In this book Lauren always drives out of town and goes on her own mini vacation, I’m really looking forward to doing the same. She’s not a small town girl she likes the bright lights, shopping and the typical city life.  I can easily relate to this story because of the way that in her town everyone knows everything about everyone and the clicks, drama, and just teens in general.  I think that by the end of the story she gets very sick of all the gossip and drama and I can relate to that because I’ve had a lot of gossip in my past.  I sometimes think while reading this book that this girl could be me and that’s very interesting to me. We have almost everything in common and I know exactly what she goes through and how the author makes her sound and feel.

    Independent reading

    2010 - 10.12

I really enjoyed the way this book was written. It was written from the main character Laurens point of view.  It’s very interesting how she thinks about certain things.  I think that the author makes things seem very dramatic and very realistic.  There was a lot of detail in the way the main character and even other people think in the story.  I can really relate to everything that happens in this story and I loved reading it, and it was hard for me to put it down.   This book makes me feel like she’s talking to me and I’m very involved in the story.  One of the things that I didn’t really like about this book, was that I would’ve liked if the author wrote more about what other people said or thought.  The story is kind of only about what Lauren thinks and does, but it just would’ve been more interesting if there was more about other people.

    True love?

    2010 - 09.30

In my book Bloom, by Elizabeth Scott a character named Lauren is having a rough senior year.  Her mother left her when she was six years old and her father seems to care about his job more than her ever sense he got a new promotion. I think that she wants attention from someone, and her father is not giving it to her, so she’s getting it in more negative ways.   She has a boyfriend that like to play things really safe, but she realizes that she wants to be a rebel sometimes.  A new boy named Even comes to the school and she starts too really like him because he’s the bad boy type.  My prediction in the next few chapters is that she will break up with her so called “perfect” boyfriend (5).
