On this section about food culture, I have learned things that will change the way I eat. I think that the biggest factor is the way the food is made. Like how the cattle are packed into the CAFO, feed other dead cows, cats, dogs, and chickens. And the conditions are so bad the cows are standing knee deep in their own poop. That’s just what they are raised is. When its time for them to die, they are forced into a slaughter haus. The bodies of the dead cows are not treated in good sanitary food conditions. Knives are supposed to be sanitized after ever three cows, but their not. A worker might accidently drop a piece of meat on the floor, but they don’t care enough to clean to off. These big company owners don’t care how things get done; all they care about is the money. In my opinion, mass producing food is not a bad thing, it’s just the way the companies go about doing it. Our world today has a large supply for meat and the small community farms can’t support the town. If the CAFO’s would clean up the way they do things, I think that people would not think of them is such a bad way.
I have found that in this class that keeping up with all the stuff that is assigned. There are many things that will be due at different times and it is easy to forget about one. My grade could easily become a B, just because I missed a few things here and there. The calendar on Ms. D’s blog shows what is due when, but it doesn’t show if I have it done or not. Most of the time, I will work on the assignment in class with the time given. I usually finish it. If I don’t finish then I will either come in before school instead of going to the cafeteria, or I will do it the next day in class.
If someone visited my blog, I think that I am a person that read a certain type of book. I like to read the action type and I try to put that in my writing. That makes it more fun for me the writer. Otherwise I don’t like to write about stuff that I am not interested in or don’t like. Also they would notice that I don’t have really long stuff of have extra post or pages on my blog. When I write, I write what I have to and that’s it. I don’t thing its nesacery to go rambling on and on about some thing that doesn’t really matter. Over all I hope they would leave thinking that I am a writer that gets to the point.
I feel like I am wary of when things are due. And I get all my work in on time. This is important because I may have a teacher in the future that will not accept late work and will just mark it as a zero. Getting in the habit of turning things on time now will prepare me for the future.
I do read the directions on work. When I do the work, I try to follow the directions. But if the directions don’t make any sense, I will do what I think it trying to get me to do. I think that I could get in the habit of re-reading the directions after I’m done to see if I did it correctly. If I don’t follow the direction I could get a bad grade and learn nothing from the activity.
For me the difficulties of multi-tasking are doing one thing and forgetting about the other until the last minuet. If there were multiple thins due at the same time, I might do all except for one because I forgot about it. And that one could bring my grade down. I think that I can over come this by having a check list and checking off what I have done.
I think that I am an independent student because I rarely go to the teacher for help. If I don’t get something, I try to figure it out on my own with the resources I have access to. Some of these resources are Ms. Degenhardt’s blog, Ms. Hogue’s blog and the over all internet. Being independent is important because the teacher has other things to do and doesn’t need 10 or 15 kids asking questions.
When the teacher is talking, I’m listening and trying to do what she says on the computer. I am always paying attention in class. I might not be making eye contact, but I’m still listening. I hardly ever distract other students.
I think that when something is assigned I do the work that needs to be done and move on to the next thing. I usually have other stuff to do, so I just to the work and move on.
There are many benefits that come with having a blog in school. The blog can help you get information out so that other students can see it. It’s the same the other way around; it makes you able to see other peoples work and what they did for something. I think that a blog could help you by posting something and if there’s something wrong, someone can leave a comment telling you that it is. You can see the comment and then go in and change what wrong. This could be a useful tool. Like if you want a teacher to look over a paper, they could read it on the blog and leave a comment telling or listing what wrong.
This class is very different than my other English classes that I have had in the past, mostly because all of the writing is done thru the computer. In classes in the past the teacher would give us a book to read and then we would talk about it as a class or in smaller groups. So during that unit some one didn’t even have to read the book, just kind stay quite during the discussions. But now in this class every one has to read the book because you will have to write about it later. I think that is good so the teacher will find the ones who are struggling and be able to help them succeed in their reading and writing careers.
