Being able to choose the books that we read for independent reading is very important to me because it gives me a chance to enjoy what I’m reading and also find a way to connect with the book. I think that having the chance to choose my own book has made me appreciate reading a lot. It shows me that I can find things to read about that I am interested in and be able to enjoy reading so much more. If we weren’t able to choose our own independent reading books it would be a lot harder for me to read. I would struggle to keep focused, especially if I was not interested in the book that was chose for us. I really appreciate the chance we get to choose what we want to read.
