• Hypertext

A hypertext can help a reader a lot while he is reading. It can also help writing to be a lot easier and more affective. Hypertexts can also cause many challenges for readers and writers.

A hypertext is a word or phrase that is hyperlinked to another page that explains more about the word or phrase. A hypertext and a papertext are two different things because a hypertext leads to another page and a papertext doesn’t. A hypertext makes reading a lot easier because it changes how reading is done because normally you would just keep on reading, but now you can click on the link if you don’t understand something. This can cause some challenges for some readers. One challenge that the reader might have is that he could get distracted over all of the links and forget to come back to the main page and continue reading. These challenges can be overcome by having the reader read the main page or pages and then the reader can go back and click on the hypertexts.

The challenges of writing  a hypertext are that the reader might not know what words to use as a link to another page. These challenges can be overcome by having the reader look his work over and find a word that has a lot to do with what he is writing about. I need to consider what words would fit in well if I used them as a hypertext to help a reader understand the word more. I need to consider that because if you put it on the wrong word, it could confuse the reader.

Being a reader of hypertexts can help you become a better hypertext writer for a few reasons. Reading someone else’s hypertext can help you get new ideas for the hypertext that you are going to write.

I read hypertext a lot because they are all over the internet like on news websites. Hypertexts do go beyond words. Hypertexts don’t always have to be linked to more words. It can also be linked to pictures or even to videos on You Tube.

I learned a lot about hypertexts and how to write them and it is a lot of fun. I now know how much they can help a reader understand what he is reading. It helps a lot if a word is confusing or if you don’t understand it. Hypertexts just make writing a whole lot easier.
