The Title Winter’s End has about two theories. They have everything to do with each other. This Title is commonly known as the season; winter. Its cold, its damp, its dreary. You could also think it’s the beginning of spring, referring to its end. But that is not what the author wishes you to think.
The book would take place in France at the peak of winter. But in the one town, its winter is far too long than it should. This setting is based on that the town isn’t happy. They are cold; they do not care for anyone around them. They are dreary; they never experience joy. They would be looked upon that way perhaps forever.
This was all caused when the one woman that was loved by everyone, by charming them with her voice. She was the mother of Milena, one of the main characters of this book. Because of her mother’s death, all those happy faces of that down died. The reason? It was quite irrational. To find that out you may as well read the book yourself.
