“split” personalities

The book Shiver is known to have two perspectives; one perspective for each of the two main characters: Grace and Sam. Every chapter is either labeled Grace or labeled Sam. This would mean that during their own chapter, they are the narrator. It is a very different point of view considering their may be more than one author. Because of this, you learn both characters well and understand what they’re talking about, even when talking about the other character. It’s like an on an off switch between two different people. Not only do you know more about each character, the author can keep things from you. This can only happen when both characters don’t know the same thing. While reading Shiver, it is not that complicated to keep up. You get a feel of the characters’ feelings and personality while even knowing what they potentionally could do next. Yet what you should know is that the chapters do not go back and forth in a pattern of which what character speaks or narrates. It could be in what ever sequence but the topic would always stay the same, both characters would pick up on the next and continue the story with ease.

Nutrition

Nutrition: a daily consumption of certain chemicals or substances that will keep our bodies going. The sad thing is that, not everyone gets enough nutrition, especially in America. Since 2001, the U.S. population got larger; by larger of course I don’t mean quantity, I mean by girth. Even children now under the influence of parents, who may or may not eat right themselves, will soon develop their own waistline.

I speak of course only for the percentage of men and women who realize the scale isn’t going down. Is there a cause? Yes, lack of nutrition. I was to compare my diet of the day to the recommended nutrition facts from the Nutrition Recommendation Chart. I soon realized I was a victim of the lack of nutrition in some parts.

I found out that day I hadn’t eaten quite enough calories but a surplus of sodium. Just one more thing I should watch for is the extreme lack of fiber, less than 50% of the recommendation.

As frightening as it sounds, this can be fixed. The slightest glance at a nutrition fact on the back of that soda can or bag of chips will do plenty. You look at the calories and fat you could consume and should probably put it away. Something this simple can go a long ways.

For me I might as well do the same, that or actually listen to my stomach to when it’s full. I’m not the only one ignoring that grumbling that goes on in my belly. But for now, most of us should be careful what we eat and how much of it.

Do you feel more confident now than you did at the beginning of the year about any of your skills: computer? writing? reading? Explain.

During my Cyber English classes I have learned new things and improved my skills. It helps to know what you do wrong sometimes and if you don’t fix them, you don’t improve. Now that I have new skills I gain more ideas and thoughts on how to write my blogs. I’m never nervous or anxious when it comes to writing a new blogs because I know how it should be done and the criteria to follow by. When following the ‘morals’ of blogs it gives you a guideline; it helps keep you on task. Before when we learned incomplete sentences I figured out what I was doing wrong. It also helped during that lesson because I knew how to fix them in the end.  I guess you could say I am more confident when writing the blogs. Writing blogs isn’t the easiest task in the class but it still takes skill and hard work to get it done, that’s why if I try my best I know I did a good job. I can see myself fin the future succeeding and do better if I just remember what I’ve learned in this class. That’s why I need to take this class seriously; for my own future.
