Lonely No More!

on Nov29 2010

“The camera shifted. It focused on a girl. The girl was Genevieve. She was looking at herself. In Connecticut.  Herself smiled and then giggled. Genevieve’s giggle… The voice was Genevieve’s voice… Genevieve’s hair… Genevieve’s face… The camera now displayed two girls.  Genevieve was both of them.” (P88-89)

In this passage from Three Black Swans, by Caroline B. Cooney Genevieve Candler was watching the video of Missy Vianello and Claire Linnehan’s “hoax”, but she didn’t know it was a lie. Missy and Claire are cousins that have “a strong family resemblance” and told everyone at Missy’s school they were twins, and everyone believed them.  Genevieve’s parents aren’t the kind that paid a lot of attention to her and “she wished they had more time for her”. (P101)  When she saw this video I think she finally felt that if she would find these girls, she wouldn’t be alone anymore.  As I read on, I think that the three sisters will be reunited and secrets will be revealed.
