In the book Without Mercy written by Jack Higgins there is a character that really resembles another character in another book I read. The main character in Without Mercy is Hannah Bernstein. She is a character that does whatever she thinks will benefit anybody and everybody else she knows. Even people she has never met. When Hannah is in the hospital for being ran over, her fellow teammates think it is there fault for letting it happen. She is that one character in a book that just never gives up. She is also the character to speak her mind. Hannah thinks about her actions but usually does what she wants or “what she thinks is right”. Hannah Bernstein reminds me of Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird. Scout is the character that sticks up for what she thinks is right or what she wants to do. Scout is like a tomboy that acts more like a boy compared to her brother, until Dill shows up. Like Hannah, Scout does what she thinks is right but is not necessarily right. When I was done reading these two books I knew at the end that these two characters are very similar to each other. I could not think of any two characters that are more alike. The personalities of Scout and Hannah are determination and basically just doing what they want. These are the reasons why I think Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird and Hannah Bernstein from Without Mercy are alike.
Two Characters Alike

I love the way you made a connection between Hannah and Scout! It seems like in every book or story there is a “role model” character, someone who is almost too good to be true. That’s what they seem like to me – and they definitely have some great character qualities and personality traits.
You made Without Mercy sound like a really good book, I’m gonna look into it. LOVED To Kill a Mockingbird
Very true. There is almost always the “role-model”, but not always as the main character. The “too-good” characters are actually often very humorous to me, not in a bad way, but just because they are just too perfect and you know something is GOING to happen to them.
Also, To Kill a Mockingbird has been suggested to me many times. After reading this, I think I may just get around to reading it.
