This year I have read very many books that have different genres. This quarter I read Call to Duty and it was an action/adventure fiction book. Outside of school I like to read true stories, sports and historical genres. Out of all the books I have read the true story are my favorite for many reasons. I like to read them because most of them have heard of or I can make connections to them. I liked being able to choose which book I read for many reasons. One reason is that I like to read books that are real or that have true stories or some sort of historic background to them. Another reason is because I do not like to have certain criteria that I have to follow to pick out a book to read. I feel that the books I chose to read this quarter really opened up my view on other kinds or genres of books. I think that the opportunity to read and to see what other classmates read also help to decide what kind of books interest you the most. My feelings or response affected my reading for certain reasons. If I got really bored reading a book I would lose interest in the book and totally put it off and not pay attention to it. But if I found a book I really liked I would continue to read it and not stop until I had to.
I have learned a lot through reading the books I chose and what other classmates have chose. I learned that just because one friend doesn’t like a book doesn’t mean that you can not try to read it or like it. I also learned that you have to give a book time to find out if you like it or not. The books I am going to chose for the next quarter are books that are more challenging for me or books that are really going to push me into reading. I want to lean towards reading action, adventure, history, true stories etc. books like that. For me the hardest part of reading a book is to stay with a book and to not move onto a different book. I tend to do this because one book gets boring and then I regret not finishing it. The easiest part for me is that once I get into a book I like is that I can finish it in no time and know that I really enjoyed the book. I determine a lot of what I read by what the front cover looks like, who the author is, and by reading the first chapter or two. This helps me a lot. I have quit reading many books because they have gotten boring and then some books I have just kept reading because I heard that the beginning was awful but the ending is great.
What makes a book good to me is a book that makes want to never close the cover and put it off to the side. Another way a book is good to me is if it makes you it on the end of your chair to find out what happens next. What makes a book bad to me is if it makes me bored and if I never want to read it. Also if it makes me switch books and move on to another one. I do not think that if you do not have a paper copy or a physical copy of a book in your hands that it changes your experience with or on the book. I think that as long as you read the book and that you get the experience that a good book gives you that it does not matter. If you have a technology device that can hold more than one of your favorite books than why not have something that can help you.
