The character I most identified with was Doodle from the Scarlet Ibis. Doodle reminds me of my baby cousin because she was born with a weak heart, but hers’ was not as weak as Doodles. I also like this Character the most because he never gives up when he wants to, his brother keeps him going so he learns to do things. He would always collapse after he stood for a long period of time but then got right back up. He felt like he wanted to give up but he doesn’t and I admire him for that. “I can’t walk, brother” he said, but that did not stop his brother from teaching him. Doodle was told he would never be able to walk or do the things other kids his age could do, but by his sixth birthday he could. Doodle changes through out the story because he grows in faith and he gets stronger each and everyday. I went through the same things he did when I was little, I was never really good at things. I was always the slowest one no matter what. I tried my hardest and pushed myself like he did and some how I got everything accomplished even if it didn’t work on my first try. He tried and tried and tried but never really got anywhere with it, until his sixth birthday when he walked up to his spot at the table and sat down. That’s why I admire Doodle the most.
