Picasso and Shakespeare

on February 8th, 2011 by Sam P

In my free time I like to catch up on my reading and my drawing. I am a major art fanatic. My favorite artist is Pablo Picasso because, he saw the world much differently then most people did and he made cubism and surrealism a big thing in the 1900’s. My favorite painting by him is the Three Musicians for, I am a musician myself and I like how he depicted the art of the musician in a way that no one else in his time would have thought of.

I also love to read. My favorite author is William Shakespeare. Although he is not necessarily a book author so much as a play writer I still consider him an author. My favorite play from him is Othello; Othello is about a man who thinks his wife is cheating on him. His jealousy gets to the point where he murders his innocent wife. Therefore, it is my favorite play because it is about racism, love, jealousy, and betrayal. I also like it because it shows that rumors can cause terrible things to happen.

Picasso and Shakespeare, in my opinion, have a lot in common. They both viewed the world in a way that no other person would have. Furthermore, they brought about a new wave in art. Picasso brought about cubism and Shakespeare brought about play writes.

    Hi Sam,
I am very excited to have you in class this semester. Picasso is one of my favorites as well. I love Weeping Woman. One of the independent reading blog options is to create a scene from a play using your book. I recommend you consider it!

Picasso and Shakespeare are both two people that I honestly know nothing about, but this post kept me interested, and thanks for sharing your knowledge and interest in them! :)
