A Change of Pace for Independent Reading?
My group members books as well as mine had very few similarities. Katie B’s novel had sort of the same impression as mine though. My novel is about a teenager whose name is Leonard, in which he committed suicide at the beginning of the novel and Katie B’s was about teenage girl who lost her best friend. The book I am most interested in out of all my group member’s would probably be Matt S’. His novel was about a boy that goes to jail for whatever reason. He didn’t get too far to know, but it seems like something I would read. Through this introduction I what I learned more about myself as a reader is that I seem to have the same type of ways for choosing a novel along with my peers in my Reading Circle. We read the back (or inside flap) and look at the cover and determine if it is worth reading. If not then we repeat the process with other novels until we find one that we want to read. If I had to set myself one goal for my Reading Circle it would be to connect more with my peers. I set this goal because I don’t really know the students in my group that well and I don’t know a lot about their novels either. I hope to learn more about themselves, their novels and as well as myself.
