  • “Getting better is the only thing”

    2012 - 06.05

“Getting better is the only thing” is a great way to explain our school system. It means that if schools are not that great the only thing they have to do is to get better to ensure those kids they can get the best education they can. Weather its hiring new staff or buying new books the only way for kids to learn more is by getting better. It appeals to people by showing that getting better is the only thing to ensure that all the students get the right education and an equal amount of chance to do something good with their life.

When I was in elementary school there was all this stuff we were learning that would confuse us but since we had a great teacher and the right resources we got some of the best education an elementary student can have. All schools have a goal to teach their students as much as possible during the school and ensure that these students are learning about what they need to know for the future and they do this by improvements and getting better at what they teach and how they teach it to their students.

We all now there are some challenges to improvement and that is money. Money helps buy the school new things to help the school learn more productively. Whether it is more modern books or computers and technology it helps the students learn All in all, getting better is the only thing for schools to do because improvement ensures that all students are getting the education they deserve.

    Nutrition Reflection

    2012 - 06.04

During the documentary I felt discussed by the fact that foods we eat none the less I eat can cause people to get cancer. After the documentary I felt sick because I know I don’t eat the healthiest and I realized I should change that to ensure I live my life to the fullest. I learned that beef can cause cancer growth and that sometimes food is the best medicine for bad diseases. I also learned I don’t eat as healthy as I should and that I should fix that. Some questions I have are; if I eat beef my whole life will I get cancer because of it? What are some good ways to eat healthy but not give up meat? I have these questions because I am worried about my life and I want to live it to the fullest also I never want to give up meat but I don’t want it to hurt me in the end

    2012 - 05.31

My short story meets all requirements and was finished on time. It helped us find mistakes in are work and helped us learn how we can make our stories more appealing to the readers. I would change how I wrote and make it more descriptive about the topic

It gave us all ideas on how we can combine our stories into making something we all like and we have all wrote together. I was a group member who gave ideas and added details about our story and who was productive. We all worked together well and reminded each other to stay on task. I would have been a lot more involved in participation because I would have loved to feel more accomplished next time in given an assignment. Our stories connect because they are all the same except through another characters eye. Yes because every person in our story is way different and think differently and it was hard bring everything together like we did.

My favorite part of the story is when my character wakes up and all he sees is a strand of slobber coming from his dogs mouth because I can relate to it in my life. I most proud on how my short story connected with the others so well and how they are all very similar but also very different

Our stories connect through four people’s lives and how they are brought together to help save my character’s dog. It was very difficult to connect each story because these four people are not similar to each other and have very different personalities

    Project Reflection

    2012 - 05.31

What surprised me most is that this project was really fun because the topic was very different from other topics and we got to pick what we wanted to do.

I learned that it’s a lot easier and more fun to work with a partner. Some advantages is that you can have a lot more fun and can create more ideas about the project. Some disadvantages is that you can get distracted very easily. In the future I would pick a productive partner so we would get the work down ahead of time and still have fun

The hardest part of our project was coordinating everything with my partner because we have very different schedules and didn’t have much time to meet up with each other.

My favorite genre piece was the survey because I got to read what other people eat and how much they eat it in our class

    Forks Over Knives Final Reflection

    2012 - 04.27

As viewer I felt disturbed by how dairy can affect many people’s lives because of the fact I eat dairy every day. I also felt that I will probably never give up dairy or proteins because I was raised on it and I love it because of the flavor and how I grew up eating these foods every day of my life.

I learned that dairy gives you a greater percent chance to give you cancer than a plant base diet would. I learned that diet can be the key for overcoming diabetes and cancers in our lives. There are many ways to get protein besides meat or dairy and that is from beans and tofu. Lastly I learned that life is full of choices and that you get to choose what you eat, good or bad.

Some questions I have are, If I eat meat and dairy my whole life will I have more diseases like diabetes?

What are some more other ways to get protein besides meat?

How do I know I have a disease that could be serious because of my eating habit?

    Introduction to Books

    2012 - 03.26
    1. All of our books dealt with the main character that the setting effected the character to do certain things he normally wouldn’t do.
    2. They differed because each book began in a different time period and had very different conflicts
    3. Haley’s book was very interesting because it’s a very different book that tells the life of two little boys who live in the ghetto of Chicago
    4. Haley’s book was very different and interest me to read it because of how different it is a the person’s perspective on where he live and what he lives with in his life
    5. I learned a lot about different types of books and how interesting they can be. I am different and similar to my peers because I like reading historical fiction while almost all of my peers liked fictional books but we were all similar because we love books that have a good conflict and resolution
    6. One goal that I have for my reading circle is to learn more about what books my peers are reading because if  I ever want to read an interesting book I could always think about what books my peers read. I hope to learn how to improve my group sharing and reading books that they recommend. I hope to learn what books that I would like better than the books I’m already reading.

    Character Analysis

    2012 - 03.26
    1. It help create a visual in my head on what the characters look like.
    2. They are now very similar because my story deals with a European spy who spies on the Nazis, while the other people in our stories that are African American and live in the ghetto of Chicago, and they both have different conflicts.
    3. All characters are suffering in a great time of hardship whether it’s a war or poverty and both are not very rich which makes them different in the story and makes them more selfish an naïve, I think they act this way because of the hardship they have to live every day.
    4. I found links to our society like the CIA and FBI because of how secretive the characters are.
    5. We have explained a lot more in detail in our stories to interest each other into reading them.

    Character Discussion

    2012 - 03.26
    1. On Friday we discussed our settings and how they affect the story. My group memebers are reading nonfiction books that deal with poverty and im reading a spy book that originates during world war 2
    2. The character has a bad relationship with the setting because of how dark and evil the setting is at the time which just happens to be Nazi Germany. When the character is in London he feels safe but when he is in Nazi occupied Europe it scares him
    3. All of settings are all in bad shape whether its war or poverty. Because the people who live in this setting are suffering or dying
    4. The ghetto of Chicago, she told me about the environment like gangs and bad people who live that area which really made think of places that have gangs and it really helped me imagine it
    5. Culture was the hardest because all of our stories are modern and don’t realy express culture of the characters
    6. We went around in a circle reading off our questions and then we commented on what we liked about the story and what they should work on and it was very helpful, I think everyone participated equally do too the fact that we all shared
    7. I am the leader of our group because I try to keep people on track and help them as much as I can. To make things better in our group we could all share other books we read to understand what kind of genre we like to read
    8. In the beginning of the book the main character is being tortured by a German officer in a random location and after that it talks about him in England watching plains without explaining anything else.
    9. These settings are meant to explain the different places the main character has to go to solve to overcome the conflict of the story and helps a lot to keep the story interesting and it explains more. The role they play is to lead up to the conflict and to go into the main setting of the novel

    Dialogue and Descriptive Language

    2012 - 03.26

During are last reading circle we discussed dialogue and descriptive language in our groups. In all, most of are dialogue was used to express someone speaking to someone, expressing what they think, or how they feel.

I liked the reading circles a lot because you can express the way you feel about your book to your group without anyone judging you or putting you down. But I didn’t like the way some people didn’t do what they were suppose to do. During the reading circles I learned a lot about myself but mostly I learned I can share the way I feel about a book with my peers. Next quarter I am going to be a lot more organized with my work and try to improve my writing. I completed my goal because I did learn a lot of new books that are interesting to me from what my peers shared with me in my reading circle. I thought the reading circle was very productive and we should continue it next quarter.

    Ideal CyberSchool

    2012 - 01.31

Schools all around the nation are getting new technologies like ipads and laptops and you could be next in line for this technology. With many programs for these super computers we now have access to over thousands of apps for school and for are entertainment.

Our schools use censoring tools to ensure we are learning correctly and not with false statements on computers. It also ensures that we are not distracted by other things such as games and videos that are inappropriate for school. All in all censoring helps us stay focused in school. Technology in are school would be used for learning purposes for all classes. Are school uses blogs and Microsoft word to ensure we have the best technology for learning in school. We also use Adobe to help us with many things to ensure are blogs look good and up to date

My ideal school would be a school that follows the curriculum to ensure their students are getting the information that is important for their class even on computers. Also an ideal school would have basic classes that are needed in their life and also have classes that kids can relate to or like.
