Reader’s Profile
I love to read. The hardest part of reading for me is understanding the conflicts and resolutions and comprehending every little detail in the reading piece. The easiest part of reading for me is once I get started on a good piece I never give up on the piece and I try to finish it that same day. I am a fast reader and I like to keep things moving. I read more of fiction books, my type is pieces that seem like real stories but they’re all dramatized or have some things made up.
Over the summer, I enjoy reading romance books. I enjoy romance books mostly because of the endings, they usually end up like a dream or fairytale for the main character. This makes the book seem more suspenseful waiting for the true love ending. I choose books by appearance and I read the back cover. If the book doesn’t seem interesting I tend to put it back on the shelf. Not often do I quit reading a book unless I just don’t have time to read and I haven’t finished reading the book in a long time. Mostly I keep reading books even if they aren’t my type because it’s good to experience new genres, authors, or just a different writing style
Outside of school I read romance, fiction, adventure, and mystery types of novels. I enjoy reading magazines like Seventeen or M. Occasionally I read the paper but only if there’s something exciting going on. I love to text my friends, email, search the internet, on long car trips I read the road signs, I read instructions on things to make sure I do them right, I read out of textbooks for school, I like to cook so I read recipes before proceeding, and much more. I enjoy reading magazines and recipes the most. I like gossip and knowing what is the newest trend or what’s cool and what’s not. For recipes, I just like cooking and making sure that the product turns out right. There’s really no reading that I enjoy the least. I like reading different things.
My favorite books are either romance or mysteries. I like romance books because I feel happy about the ending and the books get suspenseful until that great ending you’re looking forward to. Mysteries are very fun to read, you never know what is going to happen next. I like making predictions and then reading further to see if they were correct. My favorite things about mysteries are seeing how the plot effects all the characters. If something bad happens to someone or something, how does it affect the people around it? When I feel suspense or happiness while reading it makes me want to continue reading and it gives me something to look forward to.
What makes a book good in my opinion is the conclusion turning out the way I want it to and also how much the author describes situations. I really like suspenseful endings that solves the conflicts and I like explanations to the why questions I have. Sometimes when books are bad its usually because they confuse me or they have pointless endings that don’t solve the main conflicts. I get confused easily so when the author makes a book go different directions it throws me off. There’s a reason to having conflicts so of course you would want to see how they turn out and how they were solved.
One reading goal I would have for this semester would be to read the 2nd and 3rd Harry Potter books in the series. I only have read the first one and I have to catch up to my friends who have read them all and seen the movies. I love Harry Potter, I just didn’t have time to continue my reading on the series yet.
