Semester One Writer’s Reflection

2012
01.31

Over the last semester, I’ve learned a lot about writing. I’ve learned to use my imagination while writing genre posts, thought about my own experiences as a story, and write hypertext while writing on the computer. I don’t think any of the writing assignments presented challenges that I was not able to overcome fairly easily. Writing kind of comes naturally to me when I’m in the right mindset about it.

The assignment I enjoyed writing the most was the hypertext assignment about an experience of my own. It challenged me to think back and remember how I was feeling at a certain moment and transform my feelings into words. I also thought the Speak poem was a good assignment. I feel that it allowed a more creative type of writing and made us writers think outside the box. I think this was the piece that represented my writing skills the best. If I could change one assignment for the better, it would have to be my hypertext. The writing itself I was very happy with, but my hyperlinks didn’t work. It’s still a mystery to me as of why, but I would have liked to fix that.

I think that my skills as a writer have improved over the past semester and I hope they keep improving for the remainder of the year. The goal that I set in the beginning of the year was to always be proud of my writing and give my best work each and every time. I strongly feel that I have accomplished this goal for the most part and I’m sure I will strive to do my best as we finish the year.
