Goodreads Set-up

Here are the step-by-step directions for setting up your Goodreads account. Please follow and complete all of these steps exactly:

  1. Connect to the Goodreads website
  2. Under New here? set-up an account using the following information
    1. First name, last initial: SallyP
    2. Your school email address: 16sallyp@sheboyganfalls.k12.wi.us
    3. Password is up to you
  3. Skip the step that asks you to Add Friends
  4. Select and save your favorite genres. Be sure to include the genres that are part of your Independent Reading requirement (i.e. Freshmen add “Fiction” and “Young Adult” )
  5. Skip the step that ask you to Rate Books by clicking on I am done rating
  6. Update your Profile: Click the down arrow in the top right corner, then Edit Profile. Remember to Save Settings.
    1. Only enter your first name in the First Name box; only enter your the first initial of your last name in the Last Name box.
    2. Your user name should be your first name, last initial, SFHS (SallyPSFHS)
    3. DO NOT fill in any of the personal information
    4. Erase the zip code that appears in the zip code box
    5. DO fill in the My Web Site box with your school blog URL (student.sheboyganfalls.k12.wi.us/16sallyp)
    6. Be sure to click save at the bottom of your profile
  7. At the top of screen, click on the Explore arrow down. Then click on Groups. Search for the Sheboygan Falls HS group. Join the group. Leave all the settings as they are and just keep clicking join.
  8. Add friends from this group. You are only allowed to add friends that appear in the Sheboygan Falls HS group. You can add students from any grade and add teachers.
  9. Finally, start adding and rating books! Type the in the names of books you have read in the search bar at the top of the screen. Add them to your bookshelf by applying a rating to them. Five stars is the best book you have ever read, One star is the worst book
  10. Add the book or books you are currently reading. Tag them as Currently-reading
  11. Add books you are interested in reading. Tag them Want to read
