Blog Set-Up

  1.  Login using your user name and password.
  2. Change Nickname:
    • On the left side of the Dashboard, click “Profile”
    • Scroll down until the Nickname (required) title box. Enter your first name, last initial (Example: Abbie A)
    • Update the Display Name Public As: title bar so that it also says your first name, last initial (Example: Abbie A)
    • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click “Update Profile”
  3. Change your Site Title (blog title):
    • On the left side of the Dashboard, under Settings, click “General”
    • In the Site Title bar enter this title:
      • First Name, Last Initials’ CyberEnglish blog
      • Example: Abbie A’s CyberEnglish blog (*This is different from what I mentioned in class; make sure “CyberEnglish” is in your title.)
    • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click “Save Changes”
  4. Create Collaboration E-mails:
    • On the left side of the Dashboard, under Settings, click on “Collaboration e-mails”
    • Under Default Moderators, unclick your name and email address
    • Click “Add”
    • Push the drop down menu and select other
    • In the E-mail: bar, enter your teachers email address
    • Click “Update”
  5. Set-up Links:
    • Create Link Category: Click Link Categories, under the links bar, on the left side of the dashboard
    • Create a category to store specific links under. Click “Add New Link Category”
      • Add two link categories:
        • Student blogs
        • Teacher blogs
    •  Create Links: Click “Add New,” under the Links bar, on the left side of the dashboard.
    • You will decide who’s blogs you will create links to. Your friends and classmates perhaps. Do one at a time. Put the name of their blog (or its owner) in the Title bar.
      • Examples: Ms. Johnson, Katie T., Abbie A.
    • Enter that specific blog’s web-address (don’t forget http://).
    • Click on the correct link category. (Either Student blogs or Teacher blogs)
    • Under the Target bar, click the first option, _blank — new window or tab.
    • Click “Add New Link” in top, right corner
    • Create Widget: Click on the Widget link, under the Appearance bar, on the left side of the dashboard. Drag a new Link box over to your side bar. Click the All Links drop down menu and change to the Link category you just created. Now your new link will appear on your blog.
